Dental Implants in Arlington, TX

Dental implants are widely considered the gold standard of tooth restoration and replacement. They are titanium posts placed into the jawbone to mimic natural tooth roots. They typically support a crown, bridge, or denture, creating a lasting solution for missing teeth that look and feel real.

Our South Arlington Smiles team offers single implants and partial and complete mouth implant options.

01.

The Dental Implant Process

When receiving dental implants, we first review your oral health, take X-rays or scans, and develop a treatment plan once we confirm you’re a good candidate for dental implants. If bone loss is an issue, dental bone grafting may be recommended before receiving implants.

When it is time to place your implant, damaged or remaining teeth in the area are removed, and the titanium implant post is surgically placed into your jawbone.

Over the next three to six months, the implant needs to heal and fuse with your jawbone before a restoration can be placed.

02.

Following Your Implant Placement

When your implant has healed and fused, a connecting abutment is placed, followed by a customized crown, bridge, or denture to provide a natural look and function. We will schedule follow-up appointments to ensure your implant and restoration work well.

FAQ

  • Am I a good candidate for dental implants?

Good candidates for dental implants typically:

    • Have one or more missing teeth.
    • Have healthy gums and no untreated gum disease. Bone loss in your jaw may require bone grafting before implants.
    • Have good overall health, as healing is critical.
    • Don’t smoke or are willing to quit during healing.

Our team will help determine if dental implants are right for you.

  • What do dental implants look like?

Dental implants closely mimic the look of natural teeth. They consist of three parts—the implant post, an abutment, and the crown placed over the abutment. With all three pieces, you will have a restoration that resembles and feels like a real tooth.

  • How long do dental implants last?

Implants often last 15 to 25 years with excellent oral health and proper care. While the post is permanent, the attached crown may need to be replaced over time from natural wear.
